Environmental Protection

A storm drain environmental protection system is an inflatable plug deployed during chemical spills to prevent contaminants from entering the drain system. This storm drain environmental protection system is the most reliable way of mitigating the risk of environmental damage during a chemical spill.

The protection plug is placed permanently inside the junction pit and inflated during a chemical spill, highwater event, fire or chemical cleaning procedure. Once inflated, the plug completely prevents the outflow of liquids into the drainage system and waterways.

Once spillage occurs, a pump is used to inflate the plug. Within 120 seconds, an active seal is created, and no liquids can enter or exit the junction pit. The plug will remain inflated until the environmental contamination danger subsides, at which point, it can be deflated and placed back in position.

Total Containment

While the plug offers an active seal to prevent liquids from leaving the junction pit, it also seals all pipes draining into it. In addition to closing all the lines within the junction pit, the void is filled, further protecting the basin’s integrity during the clean-up process.

As the plug is inflated, it fills the void, eliminating any risk of contamination.

Where there is always a risk a simple cover can be accidentally moved, the inflatable storm drain environmental protection plug is guaranteed to stay in place.
