X-Beam
Inflatable emergency response shelter

A rapidly deployable, self-erecting inflatable habitat designed for use in emergencies or remote areas without infrastructure.

Rapid transport, Deployment and Repurposing

Inflatable emergency response shelters are widely used across various scenarios, including natural disasters and humanitarian aid missions. They serve as mobile field hospitals, decontamination units, command centres, and temporary accommodations for displaced populations. Emergency services and first responders rely on them for triage stations and incident command posts, ensuring swift, on-site operational capability. Their ability to be transported, deployed, and repurposed quickly makes them a critical tool in managing crises where time and adaptability are paramount.

Overview

The X-Beam Inflatable Emergency Response Shelter is a rapidly deployable, self-erecting, inflatable accommodation designed to deploy in response to emergency situations, or in remote areas without existing infrastructure.

Rapid Deployment

Engineered for rapid deployment, the X-Beam 1200 inflates in under six minutes with an automated pneumatic system. Its self-erecting envelope eliminates the need for mechanical framing, reducing transport volume and handling requirements. The shelter’s vertical sidewalls optimise internal clear-span space, maximise usable floor area, and support modular expansion with additional X-beam structures.

Modular Design

The modular design allows the shelter to be used as a stand-alone unit or to be connected to other X-Beam modules. The generic connections between modules allow for limitless setup configurations.

X-beam Variants

The X-Beam Inflatable Emergency Response Shelter is supplied in 6 m x 6 m and 12 m x 6 m variants with either four doors (opening on all sides) or two-door versions.

The XB600 and XB1200 are often employed together to create a working accomodation.

Frequently Asked Questions

The self-erecting design enables extremely rapid deployment, a critical advantage in emergency response. A small team of 2 - 4 people can have the shelter fully operational in under ten minutes, allowing responders to establish a functional facility almost immediately upon arrival.
The shelters are designed to be fully modular. Multiple X-Beam units can be seamlessly linked together with connection tunnels to create large, integrated complexes suitable for use as field hospitals, command posts, or triage centres.
The X-Beam shelters are engineered to be lightweight and pack down into a compact, self contained bag. This ensures each shelter can be easily transported by a small team or in the back of a standard emergency response vehicle.
The shelter's design offers multiple inflation options for maximum versatility in the field. It can be inflated using a compressed air cylinder (BA), a 12V or 240V electric inflator, or a manual hand pump, ensuring deployment is possible even when power is unavailable.
The shelter features a heavy-duty, integrated groundsheet that creates a fully sealed, waterproof floor. This, combined with the robust, weatherproof outer skin, protects occupants from the elements and provides a secure, clean environment in any conditions.
The deployment process is simple and intuitive: roll out the shelter, open the air valve, and connect an inflation source. This straightforward process requires minimal training, allowing for rapid and effective deployment in high-stress situations.
Giant Inflatables Industrial offers customisation for the X-Beam shelters. The design can be modified to include specific features such as additional doors, windows, and utility ports for electrical or HVAC systems to meet the unique needs of any emergency response organisation.
